The authors report this may be the first study to demonstrate a strong link between listening effort, daily HA use time, and HA satisfaction. Evaluating listening effort following the HA fitting session may provide preliminary information about the treatment success of HA.

The authors note this may be the first study demonstrating the high frequency hearing loss in patients with gout using extended high frequencies audiometry. Using extended high frequencies audiometry should have an important place in the early detection of potential hearing losses in gout patients.
