A Pragmatic Clinical Trial of Hearing Screening in Primary Care Clinics: Cost-effectiveness of Hearing Screening

While hearing screenings in primary care (PC) clinics were the most expensive method of the three analyzed–including two at-home protocols–they also led to the best results and improvements in quality of life. Led by Judy Dubno, PhD, with the NIDCD's Debara Tucci, MD, as a coauthor, the researchers say providing hearing screening to older adults during their PC visit is cost-effective and accrues greater estimated benefits.

Eargo Secures Up to $125 Million from Patient Square Capital

The company intends to use the proceeds of Patient Square’s investment for working capital purposes, to fund the company’s omni-channel growth strategy, and to repay all of Eargo’s approximately $15 million in existing third-party debt and related expenses. The company also would like to regain insurance coverage of Eargo for government employees under the FEHB program which was lost following a recent DOJ investigation.

‘AirPods Pro 2’ may act as hearing aids & have improved charging case

According to 52Audio, the AirPods Pro 2 will have an updated H1 processor for active noise cancellation, health functions like heart rate detection and possibly body temperature, and the MagSafe Charging Case may get microphones on the right side for ambient audio collection and hearing aid use. It's speculated the audio collected by the case is transmitted to the earbuds for processing and enhancement, and presumably used for a speaking microphone when talking to a hard-of-hearing user.
