Effects of aging on neural processing during an active listening task

Older participants required higher SNRs to achieve equivalent performance, and age-related changes were observed in neural processing. Together, the results suggest some older adults exhibit reallocation of processing resources to complete demanding listening tasks and may have less efficient recruitment of neural resources during effortful listening.
