Mimi and uHear virtual audiometric hearing test apps analyzed for detecting hearing loss

Research from Johns Hopkins shows the Mimi smartphone mobile app has a high sensitivity and specificity with no significant differences in hearing levels compared to standard audiometric testing. The uHear app was less sensitive/specific for hearing loss than Mimi and tended to overestimate hearing impairment at lower frequencies.

Tencent launches new AI-powered hearing aid to further expand into healthcare

China's multinational e-gaming and internet conglomerate Tencent has teamed with Shenzhen Eartech to designed a new $399 hearing aid that reportedly uses AI and provides “about 85% improved sound clarity and speech intelligibility compared with similar devices in the market.”
