Neuromod Devices has raised €30 million (US$33 million) to fund its expansion into the US market in one of the biggest fundraisings by an Irish company this year. The company's Lenire device was recently approved by FDA and uses sound and electric stimulation to the tongue to ease symptoms of tinnitus.

When pregnant women sing to their babies or listen to music on loudspeakers during their pregnancy, babies are born with a better ability for neuronal encoding of speech sounds, says a research group from the University of Barcelona.

This research demonstrates the initial capacities of the developing brain to code auditory rhythm and suggests the importance of special care to the auditory environment of premature infants during a highly dynamic period of neural development.
