University of Pittsburg researchers identify best tests in screening for auditory processing disorder (APD) in adults

Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center show that the Words-in-Noise (WIN) test, the Random Dichotic Digits Task (RDDT), and QuickSIN test have the highest classification accuracies for identifying APD and present the greatest promise as a quick screener during routine audiological assessments.

Study shows that common supplements may help replace inner-ear cholesterol loss and combat presbycusis

Age-related hearing loss was found to be associated with decreased cholesterol in the inner ear. A new paper in PLOS Biology shows that phytosterol supplements may act in place of the lost cholesterol and prevent auditory dysfunction in mice.
