Demographic factors impact the rate of hearing decline across the adult lifespan

A new study finds that hearing decline rates vary by sex, race, and baseline age group. It may be the first study to document that the rate of hearing change per year is lower in Black/African American individuals.

Sleep characteristics and hearing loss in middle-aged and older adults: The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2015–2018

Researchers found no association of sleep duration with pure-tone averages (PTA) at age 50; however, compared to those reporting 7-8 hours of sleep, there was a borderline-significant association at age 60 and a significant association at age 70.
