A new study shows that a AI-backed earbud system is 82.6% accurate in spotting common ear infections, ruptured eardrums, and earwax blockage.
buffalo․eduInitial results with 14 participants suggest that thresholds obtained with the Jacoti DuoTone hearing assessment app are comparable to clinical audiometry for the four frequencies tested. The hearing app was found to provide reliable hearing thresholds between 15-80 dB HL (12 frequencies tested) with a test-retest reliability comparable to clinical audiometry.
pubs․asha․orgThis study demonstrates the potential of using FNS for real-time monitoring of the insertion status of the electrode during and after cochlear implantation. The system could potentially provide a radiation-free tool for positioning the electrode quite precisely for the first six implanted contacts in the basal turn. It could also hypothetically detect incomplete insertion or electrode tip fold-over.
