OHSU scientists discover mechanism of hearing

Scientists at Oregon Health & Science University have discovered the architecture of the inner ear and mechanosensory transduction complex which converts vibrations into electrical impulses responsible for the sensations of sound and balance. “The results from this paper immediately suggest new avenues of research, and so will invigorate the field for years to come,” says researcher Peter Barr-Gillespie, PhD.
