Sonion moves production out of Philippines, fires 1,200 employees | Paywall

Sonion, one of the world's largest hearing aid component manufacturers, will shut down company production in the Philippines and lay off 1,200 employees. Sonion CEO Christian Nielsen attributes the move to the financial instability currently marring Southeast Asia, a situation he expects will continue.

Canadian Academy of Audiology (CAA) Position Statement on Over-the-Counter (OTC) Hearing Aids

Canada does not yet have regulations for OTC hearing aids, and Health Canada has not approved their use even though citizens can obtain the devices online. While CAA believes FDA-approved OTC hearing aids are safe and can improve access for some adults with mild-to-moderate hearing loss, the devices may be limited in their ability to alleviate all listening challenges.
