Military Hearing Loss is Stable Says 2021 Center of Excellence Military Hearing Conservation Report

The report showed the percentage of hearing-impaired service members increased slightly from 14.5% in 2020 to 14.7% in FY21. Civilians saw a gradual decrease from 46.1% in FY13 to 42.2% in FY21. Active duty service members had the lowest rates of hearing impairment in FY21 (13.3%) compared to the Reserve (18.0%) and National Guard (17.4%).

ACI Alliance to Present 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award to Peter Roland, MD

The ACI Alliance will award its 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award to Peter Roland, MD, at the Opening Session of its annual conference in Dallas on June 8. Dr. Roland was a cochlear implant (CI) pioneer who spent much of his career at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical and was involved in the provision of CIs starting with the device's FDA approval in 1984.
