The FDA has published a new webpage for consumers that details what constitutes over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids, who can buy them, where to buy them, how they work, and labeling and return regulations.

The researchers conclude: "Early detection of hearing loss, holistic assessment, and interdisciplinary intervention and collaboration remain the key recommendations in promoting social participation for older adults with hearing loss...As social participation is a key determinant of well-being and health and the prevalence of hearing loss is increasingly important in aging societies, it is necessary to better assess and intervene accordingly.”
